Lockdown Drill
Ontario schools are required to conduct a minimum of two lockdown drills each year. These board-wide drills, held in November and May, are part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
On November 3 at approximately 12:00pm our school will practice a lockdown drill. Just as we routinely practice fire drills, lockdown drills help students and staff become familiar with what to do in the event of a serious safety situation.
During the practice drill, students and staff will enter or remain in the nearest classroom or designated area. Staff will provide guidance, helping students through the process, including listening to announcements on the PA system and following verbal instructions. This practice helps build confidence and reinforces the routines students and staff would follow if a lockdown were ever required.
